out of 1500 / more harrahs ranting [Jun. 9th, 2007|05:07 pm]
Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
after a serious seating fiasco i'll write about some other time, i ran 3k up to 16k highlighted by turning a one out straight flush (for less than half my chips). 4s7s vs ks ts on 8s5s2s board

I also made a couple really marginal river calls with ace high and KQ on a K high 3 flush board that worked out. which helped me make some equally marginal calls later which didn't work out and i was down to 5k, i opened for 1k and got shoved on folded my bad ace.

next hand a guy limps for 300 i make it 1500 (as tiltily as possible) with AKo guy behind calls limper folds. Flop Qxx i jam 2500ish he calls with AQ and thats that.

i played at 5 tables today and recognized zero people, these small tournaments here are just so amazing.

i've only been playing these for 3 years but i'm like a cagey veteran at this point. harrahs should really pay the experienced players for all work we do to keep the game moving. Instead i got angrily threatened with permanent explusion for a seating error that was 100% their fault...

i guess i have time before my flight,

i registered on tuesday for both the 1500 shorthanded  thursday even and the 1500 saturday event.

Wednesday i made it to day 2 of the 2000 so i unregistered from the 1500, it was surprisingly simple.

Today i show up right on time and someone is in my seat, we call a floor who is puzzled and has no clue what to do. he walks me around looking for jimmy sommerfield who he can't find and drops me off with some other woman, she then goes looking around, i sit and stew for 5 minutes and she comes back and says she has to take me to jimmy.

after we walk over there jimmy then tries to send me to the poker room area for a seat with the alternates but the nice lady objects that i shouldn't tbe punished.  other floor people were trying to convince jimmy to slip more alternates into the event faster but he kept saying "they should have signed up earlier".  Its so gross that they make people play a tournament from the poker room (~10 minutes walk from the tournament room) apparently so they can start cash games in the tournament room by 2pm.  That really boggles my mind.

anyways they eventually decide to give me the next open seat. some other floor guy takes me over, gives me chips and leaves, i count them and its 2000 (should be 3)

i call for a floor and some other floor comes over and i have to try and explain the whole thing again,  he condescendingly says i've been blinded off which i explain isn't possible  (1000 chips in 20 minutes?) and insist i should be getting a full stack even if that were the case, thankfully the first floor comes back and gives me more chips, everythings finally sorted out, i missed 20 minutes of play but whatever shit happens

i win some pots, then Jack Eiffel (who i think is 2nd in command?) comes over and pulls me out of the game during a hand, he says the system shows i unregistered from this tournament. I try to explain that i unregistered from the other one he's off quickly and i don't miss the hand

a bit later he comes back and pulls me out again, this was right after the straight flush hand so i was in very good spirits. he pulls me waaay over the side.   now he is VERY angry and loudly tells me that i'm going to confess right now (to what i'm not quite sure) or else he will have this security guy right here (he brought one with him) escort me out and i'll be banned for life

I was so shocked i didn't even get angry i tried again to explain again the situation.  he was listening in the way you do when you are trying to catch someone in a lie not when you are actually listening to the explanation.

he insists i was never registered for the 1500 short handed, finally i recall that i still have a seat card for it in my room and offer to get it at the break. he eventually lets me back in the game but clearly does not believe me.

as a funny side note he was all happy that he had the time i unregistered as 4:18am.  i was confused and said it was a bit after 2 since it was after the event stopped he goes "oh yeah thats eastern time.....er maybe central".  makes sense eh? why on earth have the WSOP event registration set to nevada time?????

i get moved several times and awhile later they announce over the loudspeaker for Joe Pelton to raise his hand, so i do and jack comes over

Jack: I owe you an apology
Me: Yep

He then talks about how they had to eat the $1500 for the 6 handed event i was registered for (despite his earlier insistence that i wasn't) as if i give a shit.

i don't bother to ask details about why he was so wrong and he claps me on the back all friendly and leaves.....getting mad at him isn't going to accomplish me anything at that point

Its just so typical of this group, they always accuse first and consider the ever so remote chance that they fucked up last.  But this was a bit much i thought.

and even with everything they fuck up i'll be back on the 16th ready for another sir, so i guess i'm the one who needs help.
